PERSONS INVOLVED: PHOENIX RAY CASTELLANO (MALE, AGE: 45, POCONO SUMMIT, PA) -ACCUSED



On July 14, 2009 the Pocono Mountain Regional Police were contact by the New York City Police Department Sex Offender Monitoring Unit in regards to Phoenix Ray Castellano. The NYCPD informed the PMRPD that Castellano was a sexual offender and was required to register. The NYCPD advised that they received information that Castellano was residing in Pocono Summit, PA.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Castellano had been residing in Pocono Summit, PA since March 11, 2006. Police verified with the Pennsylvania State Police Megan's Law Section that Castellano was required to register as a sexual offender in Pennsylvania and was in violation.

On July 24, 2009 the Pocono Mountain Regional Police filed charges and obtained a warrant for Castellano for Failure to Comply with Registration of Sexual Offender. Castellano surrendered to the Pocono Mountain Regional Police and was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Deborah York. Bail was set at $25,000.00 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 30, 2009 10:00 A.M.

INCIDENT: 09-009829

LOCATION: 3311 BEAVER DAM ROAD, EMERALD LAKES COMMUNITY, LONG POND, TOBYHANNA TWP., MONROE COUNTY, PA
NATURE OF INCIDENT: ARREST FOR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH REGISTRATION OF SEXUAL OFFENDER
PERSONS INVOLVED: VINCENT JAMES LIQUORI, JR. (MALE, AGE: 34, LONG POND, PA)- ACCUSED


On August 10, 2009 the Pocono Mountain Regional Police were contacted by the United States Marshall's Service and the Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Task Force in regards to Vincent James Liquori, Jr. The United States Marshall's Service and the Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Task Force informed the PMRPD that they received information that Liquori, a sexual offender was residing in Long Pond, PA.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Liquori had been residing in Long Pond, PA since March 10, 2006 at 3311 Beaver Dam Road in the Emerald Lakes community and was working at a local restaurant. Police verified with the Pennsylvania State Police Megan's Law Section that Liquori was required to register as a sexual offender in Pennsylvania and was in violation.

On August 11, 2009 the Pocono Mountain Regional Police responded to 3311 Beaver Dam Road and arrested Liquori without incident. Liquori was charged with Failure to Comply with Registration of Sexual Offender. Liquori was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Richard Claypool. Bail was set at $25,000.00 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 20, 2009 10:00 A.M. Liquori was incarcerated at the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

Nature of Incident: Arrest for Possession of Child Pornography
Persons involved: Jonathan Aaron Brownlee III (Male, AGE: 31, Long Pond, PA) -Accused

On April 10, 2009 the Pocono Mountain Regional Police initiated an investigation after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing Exploited Children that a person residing in Tobyhanna Township appeared to be uploading child pornography over the internet.

Through the investigation police determined that the person uploading said contraband was at 3203 Beaver Dam Road. On June 17, 2009 police executed a search warrant at said location and seized computers and computer disks. Through subsequent investigation police identified the person responsible for uploading this contraband as Jonathan Aaron Brownlee III.

The items seized were forwarded to the PA Attorney's Generals office for analysis. Said computers and computer disks were examined and thousands of images of child pornography were identified.

On December 1, 2009 police filed fourteen hundred counts of Sexual Abuse of Children and obtained an arrest warrant for Brownlee.

On December 2, 2009 police conducted surveillance of Brownlee. Brownlee learned that police were coming to his home. Police watched Brownlee exit the rear of his home carrying something, enter a shed and come out with the object he was carrying. At approximately 1300 hours police arrested Brownlee without incident at his home and subsequently recovered additional contraband on his person and hidden inside said shed.

Brownlee was temporarily committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility and was later arraigned via video by District Magistrate Jolana Krawitz. Bail was set at $50,000.00 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled before District Magistrate Judge Richard Claypool on December 10, 2009.

The investigation is continuing.

Persons involved: Tasha Yallitza Rentas (Female, Age: 34, Tobyhanna, PA) - Accused; Child (Age: 12)-victim

On March 28, 2010 after receiving an anonymous complaint the Pocono Mountain Regional Police initiated an investigation into possible child abuse. The investigation revealed that the victim a child was sexually assaulted on more than one occasion between September, 2008 and November, 2009.

Police arrested Tasha Rentas without incident on March 28, 2010. She was charged with Rape of a child, Statutory Sexual Assault, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse and Aggravated Indecent Assault. She was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Michael Muth. Bail was set at $50,000.00. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 9, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. before District Magistrate Judge Anthony Fluegel.

News Release:


Nature of Incident: Arrest for Sexual Assault, Arrest for Manufacture, Deliver, Possess with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (marijuana)

Date: May 27, 2010

Persons involved: Victim: Child (AGE:15); David Wayne Nemeth (Male, Age:24, Long Pond, PA) - Accused; Robert L. Matlock (Male, Age: 24, Long Pond, PA) - Accused

On May 26, 2010 the Pocono Mountain Regional Police responded to Pocono Medical Center in regards to a possible sexual assault. Police interviewed the victim, a minor (AGE:15). The victim disclosed that she had sexual contact with an adult male (AGE:24) between May 25, 2010 and May 26, 2010 in Tunkhannock Township. The victim reported that the male she knew as David provided her with marijuana and then had sexual contact with her. Police conducted interviews and identified "David" as David Wayne Nemeth. Nemeth was arrested at 25 Flame Drive without incident on May 27, 2010. Police charged Nemeth with Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Statutory Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Indecent Assault, Unlawful Contact with a Minor and Corruption of Minors.

During the course of this investigation police received information in regards to a subject growing marijuana. On May 27, 2010 police obtained and executed a search warrant at 43 Flame Drive. Police seized contraband including live marijuana plants and suspected drug paraphernalia. As a result, police arrested Robert L. Matlock and charged him with Manufacture, Deliver, Possess with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Marijuana), Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Nemeth and Matlock were arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Claypool. Bail was set at $25,000.00 for Nemeth and $15,000.00 for Matlock. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 10th at 10 A.M. Both were committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

Nature of Incident: Arrest for Failure to comply with registration of sexual offender
Persons involved: James Joseph Votta (Male, Age: 43, East Stroudsburg, PA) - Accused

On Friday, July 30, 2010 the Pocono Mountain Regional Police received information from U.S. Probation that James Joseph Votta was working at Papa Pizza located along route 940 in Pocono Summit.

The Pocono Mountain Regional Police initiated an investigation and verified that Votta was required to register as a sexual offender with the Pennsylvania State Police. Police determined that Votta has been working at Papa Pizza as a pizza maker/cashier since June 18, 2010 and had failed to report this employment within 48 hours to the Pennsylvania State Police as required. On August 2, 2010 at approximately 1:46 P.M. Police arrested Votta at Papa Pizza for failure to comply with registration of sexual offender.

Votta was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Richard Claypool. Bail was set at $100,000.00 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 19, 2010 at 10:45 A.M. Votta was incarcerated at the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
